Taking India to the dogs .. on a whim..

Suddenly there has been a spurt of nonsensical decisions from our famed politicians. Or should I say that suddenly they have developed a passion for intuitiveness, they have started taking decisions on a whim..

It all started with a ruling from the court to remove all the unauthorized constructions (err.. the mixed land use) establishments from Delhi which was followed by relentless destruction by the municipal corporations. Respected decision makers have you ever cared to look into the statistics that how much the economics of the city depend on these institutions. Almost all the major markets of Delhi like Kamla Nagar, Karol Bagh, CP, South Ex, GK, Chandni Chowk have prospered due to their proximity to residences. Business needs customers. Pls have a look at the amount of revenue these places generate for you.

Didnt you care to look at how the demographics of the city will be altered by these actions. Let me quote an example: A acquaintance of mine owns a well settled business in such an area. He employs around 75 ppl under him. Now sealing his office will result in unemployment to those 75 workers, many of whom may be working on hand-to-mouth income. Each of these workers have an average family of 4 members. This means sealing an office leads to a loss of food to almost 300 ppl. Come on, cant u see the widespread gloom in the markets. Retailers are afraid to restock their shops, scared that sealing will lead to a loss for the investment. Producers have stopped production until their surplus stocks have moved out. So even factory workers far off are affected.

to be continued..
