Taking India to the dogs .. on a whim.. (contd)

Next instance of whimsical idea came from our FinMin and his CBDT (Central Board of Direct Taxes) officials with their ambiguous circular that some FIIs would be taxed higher at 40% instead of current 10%. This ambiguity triggered the crash of our booming stock market from a reigning sensex of >12k to a low of 9,826.91

The final nail in the coffin was put in place by our HRD minister Arjun Singh by announcing 27% quota for OBC students which along with the already established quota for SC/ST students reduced the number of seats in higher education institutions to around 50% to be allotted on merit. Widespread rallies, hunger strikes by medicos and other students have failed to budge Arjun Singh from his stand.
In a interview with Karan Thapar he blatantly refuses to acknowledge all the facts, statistics questioning the practicality of his idea. And to add with it the denigration in the quality of students in our much respected educational institutions.
In the heat of the moment someone suggested an increase in the seats in these institutions so as to equalize the number of seats allocated on merit to general Indians. HRD ministry jumped on the idea without planning and consultation with the institutions as whether they have enough facilities to accommodate the increase in the seats.

Where has all the planning gone while making governmental policies? Isn't our future entitled a careful look and adequate consideration of facts and statistics by the Indian government. If there were statistics used in making these decisions,

"I as a citizen of India, demand as my Constitutional Right To Information to publish all the details about these facts, brainstorming sessions, statistics as to how the government thinks that introducing this move would lead to a better India".

Or would our country be reduced to a country of only special people, with no place for us "regular general Indians"
